Heb 13:7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. We remember our fallen soldiers. We remember them for their sacrifice and dedication to maintain the well being of their fellow countrymen. Most nations remember their fallen soldiers at one time or another. This is the least a nation can do for these fallen heroes. Facing the enemy is not easy without training and discipline. When these noble ones are remembered, we are proud to stand with them shoulder to shoulder, shed a tear or two and thank them. We pray for their dear ones they left behind. We are truly grateful to them.
In the same way, our spiritual battle is not over. Just like world remembers its fallen heroes we are reminded in Scripture to remember those who led us and taught us the Word of God. Heb. 13:7. Remember their sacrifices and the persecution they endured. They were relentless in the pursuit pleasing the one who called them to the battle.
Let us bow out heads and thank our God for those heroes of faith, from the Old Testament and the New Testament, even to our lifetime. Let us follow in their footsteps and imitate their faith. Let us wait patiently for our Master and Savior our Lord Jesus Christ. We need to remember the stalwarts of faith more often, especially, when the world challenges and discourages us. Let us look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Heb 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Amen
